With support from Scottish Enterprise Borders and Scottish Borders Council, hawickonline.com was established by the Hawick Business Partnership, now incorporated into Future Hawick, in 2006.  The project's establishment was part financed by the European Union, and is now self-sustaining.

The project is intended to be a wide-ranging online resource for businesses, residents, clubs, societies and community groups in Hawick, as well as a reference point for external bodies seeking information on activities, history, tourism, business and investment opportunities in Hawick. It is also intended to increase online activity and computer use in the area.
