The Hawick Hosiery Co was founded in 1874 and traded under the name of Hawico until 1990 when the Hawick Cashmere Co was established. Still based in the original nineteenth century Trinity Mill, down by the River Teviot, the company manufactures luxury cashmere knitwear which is available in many of the world's leading specialist retailers and in the company's own stores.
Hawick Cashmere's visitor centre is situated to the rear of the mill on Arthur Street. The shop stocks a wide range of the company's products, for both men and ladies, catering for all tastes and occasions. Whether it be the classic or casual look, something sporty or elegant, or an outfit with a modern designer edge to it - the choice is there at the visitor centre.
While browsing round the shelves, there is an opportunity to watch the industry's state of the art knitting machines in action from the viewing gallery.
