FILM WALK: DEMELZA KOOIJ
16th November 2019 @ 10:30 am - 2:30 pm

On Saturday 16 November, as part of Forage/Image – our project exploring the relationship between artists, landscapes and environment – Alchemy Film & Arts will host a one-off workshop and film walk on defamiliarisation as an artistic method.
Exploring ways in which everyday sites can be made exceptional, the workshop and film walk will be led by award-winning artist and filmmaker Demelza Kooij. Coinciding with the 15 November opening of her new exhibition Wolves from Above, Demelza’s workshop is a unique opportunity to practice, develop and challenge ideas about place and environment, and the ways in which we interpret our habitat.
The workshop will begin at 10.30am in Alchemy Film & Arts’ office (Room 305, Heart of Hawick, TD9 0AE). Demelza will then lead participants on a short, non-strenuous film walk around Hawick, including a visit to her Wolves from Above exhibition. The workshop will culminate at Alchemy Film & Arts’ office, where participants will be invited to share material captured on the walk in an informal setting.
