FILM SCREENING + ROUNDTABLE ON ARTISTS’ MOVING IMAGE IN SCOTLAND
At 7pm GMT on Thursday 18 February, we stream If you know, you know, a new programme of experimental film, artists’ moving image and animation made in Scotland between 1970 and 2020, guest-curated by Marcus Jack.
Featuring shorts by Lutz Mommartz, Lesley Keen, Alia Syed, Margaret Tait, Roddy Buchanan, Mandy McIntosh and Jasleen Kaur, the film screening will be captioned by Matchbox Cineclub and followed by a live, hour-long roundtable discussion on the condition of producing and exhibiting artists’ moving image in Scotland – featuring Kitty Anderson (LUX Scotland), Marcus Jack, Moira Jeffrey (Scottish Contemporary Art Network) and Michael Pattison (Alchemy Film & Arts).
More details about the programme can be found here.
NEW BOOK PUBLICATION
NEW WRITING BY JASLEEN KAUR AND ALIA SYED
In conjunction with If you know, you know, we are proud to support the publication of a special tête-bêche double issue of DOWSER, Transit Arts’ series of newly commissioned essays, interview transcripts and archival materials on artists’ moving image in Scotland.
DOWSER’s third edition, ‘Jugalbandi’, features two entwined texts by artist filmmakers Jasleen Kaur and Alia Syed, who respond to the shared experience of growing up Scottish and South Asian in Glasgow.
Edited by Marcus Jack, DOWSER is released as an open access online PDF and in a limited print edition of 250. Printed versions are available for a contribution of £2.50, inclusive of a minimum £2.00 donation to the Scottish Refugee Council.
