Jacoba Paulus exhibition – An Afternoon with Marilyn – an exhibition of new work inspired by Hawick’s mills
April 15 - June 12
An exhibition of new work by Borders-based freelance artist Jacoba Paulus. Jacoba was
born in Hamburg, Germany. Initially she worked as a jeweller, before turning to painting
and studying illustration.
For this exhibition, Jacoba has drawn inspiration from some of Hawick’s mills. She had a
number of drawing sessions at Johnston’s of Elgin, which she found a very enjoyable
experience and resulted in a series of delightful coloured ink drawings.
Other work features objects found in a disused mill, which Jacoba has portrayed in an
imaginative way that intrigues the viewer and draws them into the picture.
