The Harcourt Players – Classic Movies with Live Music
March 11 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Harcourt players, Simon Othen and Luke Wurmli write and perform their own original musical scores for classic silent movies from the early 20th century using live music to bring these to life.
As was done before the advent of sound in cinema, the Players weave their way through the imagery in real time. Using an array of instruments such as guitar, banjo, mandolin, harmonicas, a variety of percussion and sampler, they bring a contemporary approach to these classic movies.
The programmes will be:
3pm show:
A classic selection of comedies (Rated: U)
Buster Keaton in “The Goat” (c.20 mins)
Charlie Chaplin as “The Professor” (c.10mins)
Intermission
Cartoon – “Koko the clown” (c.10 mins)
Buster Keaton in “Neighbours” (c.20 mins)
This bill is suitable for all ages.
7pm show:
Nosferatu (1922 – Rated A) (c.1 hour 20 mins long, with added interval)
F.W. Murnau’s take on the Dracula story, (here called Count Orlok and played indelibly by Max Schreck), defined the chilling iconic role for the cinematic nature of vampirism for the coming century.
Nosferatu is not technically an adaptation of Dracula, Murnau changed the names of all major characters, as well as the setting and some of the story.
This is a silent horror masterpiece that continues to chill over a hundred years after its release and we advise that the presentation is not suitable for under 12’s unless accompanied by an adult.
