THE KEN LAIDLAW SPORTIVE 2022

Hawick Cycling Club are delighted to be able to offer places on the Ken Laidlaw Sportive again in 2022. Places
were taken within a week of applications opening in 2021, so apply early to secure your place.
There is an early bird entry fee which we have held at £20 for the second year. Early entry
helps us plan for suitable start times for entrants and allows us to keep you up-to-date with our
plans.
Last year we made several changes to the Ken Laidlaw Sportive due to the ongoing Covid-19
pandemic. We plan to retain those changes for 2022 as we have little idea of what restrictions,
if any, there will be in place come August.
We have prided ourselves on the Ken Laidlaw being the friendly sportive with riders able to
meet during the mass start, at the feed stations in the village halls, and at the end to share a
meal together. We are conscious that these are the very situations where the virus spreads
easily. For this reason, we have replaced these aspects of the event, while keeping the rider
support on route to the same high standard.
We will have a staggered start with group size kept to a maximum of 50. The first group is off at
8.30am and the last at 9.45am
Entries close 2 weeks before the start of the event and we won’t be accepting entries on the
day, even if places remain.
We are limiting the number of places available to 300, so book early to avoid disappointment.
