Doors open days 2023 – Hawick Library

Sitting on the banks of the River Teviot, Hawick Library is an impressive, well-known building and local landmark in the town of Hawick. The Library was funded by a £10000 donation from Andrew Carnegie, who opened the building on 17th May 1904. The building was designed by J N Scott and Alexander Lorne Campbell. Many original features survive both externally and internally, including memorial stained glass windows in the hallway. It is still a public library to this day and houses a wonderful Local Studies collection as well as many other items of historical interest.

Come on a tour of the library, including the local history and other bookstores in the basement that are not normally open to the public. Tours will last an hour. – max. 10 people per tour.
