Nature as Art: unique, vibrant artworks in paper and textiles – By Anna Drabner-Graham

August – October: Mon – Sat 10:00 – 16:00 (closed Sun)
November: Mon, Wed – Sat 10:00 – 16:00 (closed Sun and Tue)
A new exhibition – ‘Nature as Art’ by Anna Drabner-Graham – comes to Borders Textile
Towerhouse, featuring colourful collage work and bespoke knitted art.
Anna is inspired by the energy and beauty of the local landscape, capturing the Scottish
Borders as she sees it – bold, vibrant, and full of movement. She paints in acrylics, using
bright, expressive colours that reflect the emotional essence of a place, rather than its literal
form. Her collage pieces are created with hand-painted, textured papers, layered with
acrylic paints and coloured pens, resulting in playful, energetic compositions.
She also creates knitted works of art incorporating redundant yarns sourced from local
knitwear mills, for a more sustainable approach. Crafted on a domestic knitting machine,
these pieces add tactile richness and a distinctive material link to the places within her
collection.
While Anna’s process is fun and intuitive, it also reflects a deep connection to the land
around her. Through her unique perspective, she invites visitors to experience familiar
scenes in unfamiliar, dynamic ways.
Anna Drabner-Graham says:- ‘It is a real pleasure to be exhibiting with Live Borders. This is
an exciting opportunity to share the playful dialogue between collage and textiles in my
work, where colour, texture and landscape come together in unexpected and joyful ways.’
